Seventh-Day Texts and Sunday Arguments

Direct biblical wording, cumulative Christian readings, and selected Catholic sources

The seventh-day passages below explicitly identify the Sabbath day. The Christian case for Sunday is different in form: Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions build it cumulatively from the resurrection, first-day gatherings, covenant theology, early Christian practice, and accounts of church authority and tradition. The selected Catholic editorials below illustrate one authority argument. They do not replace the fuller Catholic and Orthodox theology of the Lord’s Day or the distinct Protestant explanations for Sunday worship.
